Since our primary goal is to keep all our students safe, we felt it was time for a friendly reminder regarding our guidelines for dropping off and picking up students.
The west lot/entrance is designated for buses and staff parking only in the mornings until 8:15 and the afternoons from 2:45 to 3:15. The front lane is a designated "No Parking" fire lane and is used by buses for drop off and pick up only (at all times).
Students should never be dropped off or picked up on South Genoa on either side of the street. This is extremely dangerous. "No U-turn" signs are also posted on South Genoa on the west and south side of the school.
The south lot is the area designated for student drop off and pick up. The procedures for dropping off and picking up students differ for the mornings and afternoons: In the morning, students may be dropped off from either the right or left lane, or you may park in the parking lot in a designated space. Security is always present to control the flow of traffic for the safety of your student(s). Students being dropped off from the left lane should only get out when the traffic has been stopped by Security. Security will keep traffic stopped until all students are safely on the sidewalk. We also ask that you not drop off past the crosswalk where Security is standing as we cannot see or control traffic behind us.
In the afternoons, parents may park and pick up students from the right lane only or in the parking lot. The left lane is used only for traffic flow. This is for the safety of all students. We are unable to control students who walk in between cars parked in the right lane to access a car stopped in the left lane. We have noticed an increased number of cars stopping in the left lane and motioning students over. This is very dangerous. Please, for everyone’s safety, do not ask students to dart in between cars. Parking is available in the right lane and the parking lot. Students must also be reminded to cross only at the designated cross walks.
Any questions may be directed to the Security Office at 720-886-7702.
Thank you for your patience and understanding and for helping to keep all our students safe.
