New Principal Named
May 17, 2013

Dear Parents and Students of Falcon Creek Middle School,

I recognize that this is a time of mixed emotions for the Falcon Creek community. While we wish Dr. Kennedy the very best as he pursues a new opportunity at the district level, there is also a feeling of loss and apprehension upon his departure at the close of the 2012-2013 school year. Dr. Kennedy has been a positive leader for the students, staff and families in the Falcon Creek community and has continued the legacy of this fine middle school. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that the new principal of Falcon Creek continues to honor the legacy of the school and lead the strong efforts to attain academic excellence in growth and achievement for every student. It is equally important that the leader recognizes and embraces the support and participation that are so prevalent in this community.

I want to thank all of you who took the time to offer your insights, thoughts, vision and hopes through your written communication and/or active participation in the input forums, online questionnaires and interview process. Your suggestions were reviewed and discussed and were very helpful in guiding the selection of the new principal.

After carefully conducting the interview process, it is my honor to announce Ms. Lisa Ruiz as the new principal of Falcon Creek Middle School. As you may know, Ms. Ruiz helped open Falcon Creek in 1999, and has served as a dean of students, coordinator of student achievement and, most recently, as an assistant principal (2009-2013.)

During the remainder of this school year, Dr. Kennedy and Ms. Ruiz will spend time working together to ensure a smooth transition. Dr. Kennedy will also continue to work closely with the Falcon Creek administration and staff by lending support in this process through his new role as Executive Director of Middle School Education, beginning July 1, 2013.  I know that you join me in welcoming Ms. Ruiz to her new role as principal at Falcon Creek.

Again, thank you for your support of Ms. Ruiz. The school district is extremely confident that Lisa’s leadership coupled with the dedication of this talented staff will result in the continued success of Falcon Creek Middle School.

Sincerely,

Sheila L. Graham
