Dear Parents and Students,
Our young Falcons have started off the 2013-2014 school year growing their wings and soaring. Our 6th graders have made a smooth transition to middle school, our 7th graders are focused on learning, building new friendships and renewing previous friendships, and our 8th graders are preparing to take the EXPLORE Test, which is an early predictor of college and workforce readiness.
Our PTCO Magazine Fundraiser is another huge success, so thanks to all of you and your extended families and friends for contributing to such an important cause. The PTCO continues to fund learning experiences, resources, materials, facility improvements and opportunities for extended learning beyond the school day. Our fall round of NEST Grants will be available to Teachers and Staff within the next few weeks.
Please continue to check our Falcon Creek Website (www.fcms.ccsd.k12.co.us) for important information concerning upcoming dates and events. I want to encourage you to attend our PTCO Meetings, Accountability Meetings, and PASS meetings, whenever possible. Further clarification regarding dates and times for all parent meetings can be found by clicking on the Parent Information link.
Another fall event coming soon is our Parent-Teacher Conferences. This year, we are changing our procedure to include more evening drop-in times for our working parents. Please refer to the website for dates and times. A more specific “Letter to our Parents” will be sent home within the next few weeks. This letter will also be posted on the website for further reference, if needed.
Once again, we will be honoring our Veterans during a Veterans Day Breakfast Celebration for all Falcon Creek Staff, Parents, and Community Military Veterans and their family members. The week-long celebration, “Saluting America”, will include a flag waving parade, a poster contest, tribute cards to veterans, certificates, a Falconaires performance, and a patriotic trumpet solo from Mr. Royce Ehrle. Please see our website for further information.
I would like to end my message to you by sharing some sad news. On Saturday, September 21, 2013, our dear friend, Joanne Holland, passed away. “Jo” was our Bookkeeper at Falcon Creek for the past seven years. She was an integral part of our Main Office Team, and loved by all our Staff. I am deeply saddened by this loss, and I felt it was important to share this with all of you.
Along with the recent rains and flooding, this has been a difficult time for many families across our State of Colorado. I know that each of us appreciates every day we have ourselves, and our loved ones healthy and safe around us. Falcon Creek continues to be an incredibly close community of teachers, parents, and students who work together to support one another, in good times and in bad times.
Thank you to all of you.
