Principal Remarks
Dear Parents and Students,
Our first quarter of school has ended, and our young Falcons have developed their wings and are soaring to new middle school heights.  Our sixth graders have transitioned well and are gaining the necessary habits and study skills that are foundational for middle school success.  Our seventh graders are focused on learning, taking new risks, and enjoying their friends and their teachers.  Our eighth graders just completed the EXPLORE exam in October, and they are demonstrating meeting the benchmarks necessary for high school and post-secondary success.
We are in the midst of planning for several second quarter events.  On November 7, 14, and 15, we will be hosting our Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences.  This year, we are changing our schedule to includemore evening drop-in times for our working parents.  Once again, we will be honoring our Veterans during our Veterans Day Celebration Breakfast for all Falcon Creek Staff, Parents, and Community Military Veterans and their students.  We are extremely excited to have a return visit from Lt. Commander W.T. Boykin Jr.  “Chip” is a relative of one of the renowned Tuskegee Airmen from World War II.  The “Red Tails” were an elite team of African American pilots who sacrificed their own personal goals and desire to defend a country that treated them as 2nd class citizens.  The keynote presentation is titled “Red Tails – What We Can Learn from the Tuskegee Airmen”.  Chip’s keynote presentation will be videotaped and made available for students to view in their social studies classes.
In my continued commitment to ensure that Falcon Creek Middle School is a place where all students and adults are physically, socially, and emotionally safe, we are rolling out a new program called “No Place for Hate”.  This program, sponsored through the Anti-Defamation League, will focus on training our SOAR Leaders in a protocol for teaching/modeling compassion, empathy, and tolerance for all differences that exist among us.  The focus is on anti-bullying and tolerance of others who may be different in terms of color, race, religion, culture, etc.  SOAR Leaders will receive the initial training during the day on Friday, November 15th.  Since this is a non-contact day for Parent-Teacher Conferences, our SOAR Leaders are volunteering to serve on an “off-day” of school and receive this important education.
We are continuing to expand our efforts to communicate and inform you of all the critical information you need in a more efficient and accessible manner.  PowerSchool is the tool we will use to update student progress and report out final grades for three quarters.  The final year report card will be mailed home to parents.  COLE 3.0 is the tool we use to communicate upcoming assignments and provide access to worksheets and study tools.  Our Falcon Creek Website( contains our Falcon Creek Flyer, as well as important information concerning upcoming events, dates, curriculum offerings, staff contacts, and registration.   Also, please remember to contact your child’s teachers or grade level administrator should any issues or questions arise.
As we head into the holiday season, I wish all of you a beautiful, safe, and healthy fall season.  Falcon Creek remains an incredibly close community of educators, parents, and students.  I am so thankful for this and for all of you.
Warmest Regards,

Lisa B. Ruiz
